Abstract
725,302. Tubular heat-exchangers. AIR PREHEATER CORPORATION. Feb. 3, 1953 [Feb. 6, 1952], No. 3008/53. Class 64 (3). [Also in Group XXII] In a heat-exchanger comprising a plurality of concentric tubes 10, 12, 14, 16, secondary heating surfaces are provided in the annular fluid passages 18, 20, 22. The secondary heating surfaces are located in longitudinal grooves formed in the tube surfaces and may comprise strip fins 34 or pin fins formed either by perforating such strips or by sinusoidal wire elements. When strip fins' 34 are provided they may have strengthening ribs extending therealong. A method of assembly is described (see Group XXII).
