Abstract

724,804. Doctors of paper-making machines &c. LEISTIKOW, F. W. R. (Smith, R. W.). Feb. 24, 1953, No. 5143/53. Class 96. The back edge of a doctor blade 10 for a roll 8 of a paper pulp- or board-making machine, or a crÛping machine &c. is received in a slot 21 in a rod-like holder 20 keyed at 36 in a groove 35 of a carrier 30 on a support 40. Removal of the key or pin 36 allows the holder 20 to be turned so that the blade slopes downwardly, and may be removed forwardly with the holder 20. In modifications, the blade is secured in the slot 21 by pins which may be tapered and (a) the holder 20 is of elongated cross-section and spring held in the groove 35; and (b) the holder 20 is hollow and approximately of G-section, or of approximately of E-section. The blade 10 may be continuous, or of abutting longitudinal sections 5 inches or more long, and may be of metal, fibre or plastic.
