Abstract

724,116. Forced-flow waste-heat steam boilers. VORKAUF, H. April 14, 1953 [April 17, 1952], No. 9709/52. Class 123 (2). In a forced-flow steam boiler 3 which is heated by waste gases, supplied through piping 2 from an entirely separate reverberatory furnace 1, and includes a steam-and-water drum 9 with recirculating pump 8, the pump 8 discharges water not only into the supply header 10 of the boiler but also through a pipe 11 to cool constructional elements of the furnace, thence back to the drum through pipes 12, 13. Such elements include the frames 4 of the furnace charging doors, roof-supporting tubes 6, and a cooling tube 7 in the piping 2. In a modification the boiler is associated with a blast furnace, part of the circulating water being led through tubing adapted to support the furnace brickwork. In a second modification the boiler is heated by the exhaust from an I.C.E. the cylinder of which is cooled by recirculated boiler water. In a further arrangement the waste gases from a smelting furnace heated by a cyclone burner are discharged to the boiler and cooling water is supplied to the spirals of said burner.
