Abstract

723,393. Elastic-fluid turbines. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Oct. 10, 1952 [Oct. 10, 1951], No. 25422/52. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XXII] A gas-turbine blade comprises a sheath 10 which surrounds it longitudinally furcated body portion 11 carried by a base portion 12 so as to define therewith coolant channels 21 which are connected through conduits 24 in said base portion to a chamber 23 at the base of the blade. The body portion 11 has fingers 16, the ex. terior faces of which conform to the interior surface of the sheath. The sheath is seam welded or brazed at the trailing edge or may be formed from a tube and is welded at 18 to the body portion 11 or brazed to the fingers thereof. The blade is secured to the rotor disc by a pin 31. The body portion 11 may constitute a casting or a machined component. Specification 723,394 is referred to.
