Abstract
The invention comprises the b -dimethylaminoethyl ester of 2-hydroxy-4-aminobenzoic acid and its inorganic acid salts. It may be prepared by esterifying 2-hydroxy-4-aminobenzoic acid with b -diethylaminoethanol in the presence of a concentrated inorganic acid or aryl sulphonic acid in amount sufficient to suppress any appreciable evolution of carbon dioxide through decomposition of the substituted benzoic acid. It may also be prepared by any of the esterification methods described in the Specification 722,795. In examples, (1) 2-hydroxy-4-aminobenzoic acid is esterified with diethylaminoethanol in the presence of a substantial amount of concentrated sulphuric acid; (2) 2-hydroxy-4-aminobenzoic acid is similarly esterified with ethylene chlorohydrin and the b -chloroethyl ester formed reacted with diethylamine in benzene; (3) anhydrous sodium 2-hydroxy-4-aminobenzoate is heated with 1-chloro-2-diethylamino-ethane in isopropyl alcohol; and (4) 2-hydroxy-4-aminobenzoic acid methyl ester is heated with diethylamino ethanol.
