Abstract
Apparatus for regenerating spent acid pickle liquor comprises a tank C having two compartments 2, 3, separated by a partition 1, which together have a capacity at least as great as the pickling vat 19, an overflow conduit 7 leading from compartment 1 to compartment 2, an opening 14 at the base of the partition 1, and a cooling coil 12 and a paddle stirrer 9, 10 in compartment 1, the action of the stirrer causing circulation of the liquor in the direction shown, the compartment 1 acting as a crystallizer and the compartment 3 as a combined reservoir for liquor to be treated and settling tank for crystals formed in compartment 1 and carried over by the circulation to compartment 3. A wire mesh baffle 4 prevents the crystals (of ferrous sulphate) from returning to the compartment 1. When the treatment is complete the regenerated liquor is returned to the vat 19 by pipe 16. From the vat 19 spent liquor is pumped to tank C via line 13 and pump 20. <FORM:0722832/III/1>
