In a process for drying textile cheeses &c. the material is subjected to an initial stage of hot air drying, then high frequency dielectric heating and finally further hot air drying. A tunnel T has a conveyer CB carrying the materials therethrough and plate electrodes P<SP>1</SP> P<SP>2</SP> above and beneath the conveyer connected to radio frequency oscillation generators RFG. Air heated by passage over the generators is fed into ducts D' interconnected bv ducts D<SP>3</SP> and passes into the tunnel through ports R controlled by dampers C<SP>1</SP>. Moist air is extracted via ducts D<SP>2</SP>.
