721,646. Combustion chambers. HEER & CO., AKT.-GES. Oct, 22 1952 [Oct. 31, 1951], No. 26532/52. Class 7 (3). A combustion chamber 2, formed by a shallow recess in the piston or cylinder head, is circular in plan and has a peripheral enlargement 4 which forms a continuation of the peripheral wall of the chamber 2, the fuel injection nozzle 5 being arranged substantially parallel to the cylinder axis but eccentrically thereof so that its discharge end is situated in the enlargement 4 at least when the piston is at or near top dead centre. The fuel is injected through outwardly directed openings 6 and the chamber 2 and enlargement 4 may be provided with a wall portion 3 curved inwardly.
