Abstract

721,609. Moulding hollow articles from synthetic resin &c. EQUIPMENT & CONTRACTS, Ltd., G. & E. April 2, 1953 [April 4, 1952], No. 8733/52. Class 87 (2). In the manufacture of a hollow article by injection, the core 7 is supported within the mould parts 1, 2 by means 8 which permit the passage of moulding material through the means. As shown, the means 8 are flanges on the core, the flanges being supported in recesses 4 in the mould parts and having passages 9 through which material injected at 11 may pass. After moulding, the article with the core inside is removed from the mould, the article is separated into components determined by the mould parts, the core is removed, and the components are joined to form the complete article. The mould may be in three or more parts. The article may be a ball float or a toy. The material may be polythene.
