Abstract

720,585. Hair curlers. NEWEY BROS., Ltd. Sept. 18, 1953 [Feb. 21, 1953], No. 4905/53. Class 131. A hair curler comprises a body of semirigid plastic material consisting of two parallel limbs a, a connected at one end by an integral curved portion forming an eye c and a retaining loop h of flexible and elastic plastic material having at one end a bar j received in the eye and having at the other end an opening to engage the free ends e of the limbs. The body and loop are preferably moulded from polyvinylchloride the body being left unplasticized while the loop is sufficiently plasticized to make it flexible and elastic. A stiffening rib d is provided on each arm and a projection g on one arm reduces the entrance to the eye c to retain the bar in the eye. The curler is unaffected by lotions and oils and may be used in home permanent waving.
