Abstract
720,541. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 12, 1952 [Aug. 18, 1951], No. 19503/51. Class 39 (1) In a cathode-ray tube comprising a metal body 1 with a shaped rim 3 forming a seat for the glass plate 5 to which it is heat sealed, a reinforcing member 7 around the rim counteracts the tendency for the rim to be bent away from the glass plate. The reinforcing member may consist of a split annulus formed as a number of sections, and is clamped around the rim by means of draw bolts 9. The reinforcing member may form part of the tube mounting. This mounting may be the mask defining the viewing area. The metal body may be of chrome-iron and the reinforcing member also of chrome-iron or of mild steel.
