Class 20 (4) In a roof truss, some or all of the usual struts and ties are replaced by a single sheet of hardboard or plywood 2 fastened along its edges by gluing, assisted by bolts or clench nailing, between duplicate tie beams 1 and rafters 4, forming a triangular truss of I cross-section. Battens 7 may be glued or clench nailed on to the sheet to strengthen it. The inner space of the triang'e need not be filled by the sheet 2 but, two sheets may extend towards each other from opposite base angles, leaving a gap in the middle.
