Abstract

718,120. Spectacle frames. CURTET, C. L. Dec. 13, 1951 [June 11, 1951], No. 29269/51. Class 97(1) Spectacles comprise a frame embracing only the upper part of each lens and a nose-engaging portion forming an extension of the frame around the periphery of the lens at its nasal side to a point behind its maximum width, each lens being fixed to the frame solely by a screw or like member co-operating with the lens near to the temple hinge. As shown the lens 5 is pressed against the nasal extension of the frame by a screw 11 screwed into a member 12a forming part of or separate from the hinge 12 and engaging a notch 7 within lens. The frame extension may be provided with a pin 8 engaging a further notch 6 in the lens. Alternatively the hinge 12 may bear a portion extending over the face of the lens secured thereto by a screw passing through the lens.
