In an apparatus for dispensing pressuresensitive adhesive tape, the tape is pressed upon .the feed roll by means of a spring-loaded pressure plate engaging the.non-tacky side of the tape so as to produce sufficient adherence to secure the necessary tension for unwinding the tape. As shown, the tape 14 is drawn from a supply roll, suitably mounted in the casing 10, by a feed roll consisting of a plurality of toothed discs 16 spaced a slight distance apart on the shaft 15. A stripper roll consisting of similar discs 18 is mounted on a shaft 19 so that the discs 18 are received between the edges of the discs 16, and the two rolls are driven by gearing through a handle or lever, the stripper roll being driven at a greater peripheral speed than the feed roll. Lugs 28 mounted on the side walls of the casing support a knife blade 29 having a serrated lower edge, a reinforcing member 31, and a further blade 32 having a sharp edge 33, which are attached to the lugs by spring-loaded screws 34. The pressure of the blade structure on the stripper roll under the action of the spring 36 prevents the tape from being drawn between the feed roll and the stripper roll and prevents the tape from curling outwardly upon itself, as described in Specification 717,956, A pressure plate 45 is mounted on lugs 40 attached to the side walls and is provided with a curved portion 46 to press the tape against the feed roller 16. The pressure plate is secured to a plate 41 by a screw 48 and the plate 41 is secured at each end to the lugs 40 by spring-loaded screws 43, the portion 47 of the pressure plate being bent at an angle such that the plate 41 does not rest flat on the lugs 40. The pressure plate may be provided with a soft pad which bears against the feed roll.
