Abstract

275,445. Solere, F. Oct. 15, 1926. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Squares,. protractors; rulers. - In a drafting instrument of the kind in which aT-square 2, which may have a pivoted blade, carries a slidable scale 3 and a slidable set-square &c. 4, the scale is graduated in opposite directions along its two edges so that measurements &c. can be made from either end. The scale is provided with a groove fitting over a rib 12 on the blade 2 and the set-square carries a plate 5 extending over the scale and having sighting-apertures 5' through which the two sets of graduations are read. Means are provided for maintaining the head of the T-square in engagement with the edge of the drawing-board, the device in the form shown comprising a rod 6 carried by the board and engaged by members 8 at the ends of a spring 7 secured to the head. Scales 18 are provided to enable the blade to be set at any desired angle in relation to the head. The setsquare 4 may be replaced by an adjustable protractor, Fig. 15, consisting of a graduated segment 23 and blade 21 pivoted to a slide 20 bearing index marks Z against which the graduations are read. The ruling edges of the T-square, setsquare &c. may be formed of transparent material such as celluloid.
