[Also in Group XXX] A multi-storey parking structure is provided with fixed and hinged ramps to provide entry to the various floors; the fixed ramps extend from the floors to a position between the floors, whi'e the hinged ramps extend from the next higher floors to the lower fixed ramps and when raised provide a space for a car to pass beneath. A motor approaching along slope 5 can either descend slope 146 to the ground level 6 or ascend the hinged ramp 11 and fixed ramp 36 either to the next level 7 by slope 145 or by ascending the hinged ramp 13 park on the' top level 15. The hinged ramp 11 is counterweighted by weights 74 on arms 75 pivoted to uprights 7 and carrying rollers at the other end engaging the side flanges of the ramp, so that when the ramp is unlatched from the level 5 it automatically swings upwardly. The upper ramp 13 has counterweights 83 attached by cables to the ramp and passing over pulleys 85 on uprights. After reaching the upper level, the motor is parked in channels 17, 18 and 19, 20. Passages 16 and 21 are provided and an exit ramp 22 leading from the passage 21. The ramps have spaced U-channels for the wheels separated by drip sheets of metal and side metal sheets for walking thereon. A safety gate may be provided on the ramps so pivoted that it allows the motors to ascend but prevents descent without first securing the gate by a latch in the out of use position, pockets in the side channels are provided for the same purpose. The run in 8, 9 or 10 to the channels comprises side flanges converging to the width of a channel, one or both flanges having a roller, a triangular traction member leading to a wheel bearing central roller and rollers intermediate the flanges and central roller as described in Specification 716,408. The channels are cross braced and the supporting pillars are off-set from the ends, the connections being detachable to al'ow adjustment of the parts. An electric contact may be operated bv the motor when in the channels to operate a signalling light to indicate its position in the structure. The widths of the channels may be made adjustable by having sliding plates fixed to the inside members of the channels. Instead of using channels to guide the wheels, upstanding plates at the sides may be used on either side of a pair of flat tracks.
