Abstract

715,096. Ventilators. STEWART, I. M. April 8, 1953 [April 9, 1952], No. 9102/52. Class 137 An air distribution device for fitting to an air supply duct 18 comprises two spaced plane circular discs 1, 2, a central aperture 4 being formed in disc 1 through which air enters the space between the discs for discharge through an annular outlet 5 between the peripheral portion of the discs 1, 2, and a baffle plate 6 which is movable circumferentially to baffle any selected segment of the outlet 5. The plate 6 which is provided with a knob 6' consists of a cylindrical segment guided in grooves 7 formed in the faces of the discs 1, 2, close to their peripheries. A valve lid 8 is slidable from the open to the closed position 8<SP>1</SP> by rotation of a screw-threaded member 9 whose threads 14 are engaged by a pair of diametrically opposed pins 12 provided on a central boss 11 of the lid 8. The member 9 is journalled in a tube 10 which is supported centrally of the aperture 4 by a bearing block 2<SP>1</SP> fixed to the disc 2 and a pair of longitudinal s'ots 13 are formed in the tube 10 to allow the pins 12 to protrude therethrough. The discs 1, 2, are held spaced apart by screws 3 and the entire assembly is attached to a flanged ring 15 the flange 16 of which is fitted to the portion of the ceiling 17 adjacent the duct 18. In a modification the baffle plate is attached to a support mounted on a pivot disposed centrally of the device.
