Two or more cooking units are supported at the top of a cooking range on two parallel vertical walls forming part of grease collecting troughs, and means for fastening together adjacent cooking units and sealing means for preventing grease dropping between adjacent units are provided. Electrically heated hot-plates 34, thermostatically controlled within a very wide temperature range, are supported on the vertical walls 47, 50 of grease collector troughs formed at the front and rear of the cooking range, which are reinforced by plates 48, 51 welded to them. The sealing strips 56 extend over the grease troughs at front and back, so that grease collecting between hot plates can drain into the troughs and there through funnels 31, 32, Fig. 2, to the drawers 15. Each end hot-plate is provided with a side grease trough draining towards the back and front troughs. In order that a number of ranges may be banked together, the side walls 3, Fig. 6, are provided with downwardly and inwardly inclined flanges 66, and a V-shaped stainless steel landing strip 68 is provided with inturned edges to grip the flanges 66 and form a grease guard between adjacent ranges.
