713,783. Jet propulsion plant. ARMSTRONG SIDDELEY MOTORS, Ltd. Dec. 24, 1952 [Jan. 2, 1952], No. 128/52 Class 110(3) In a ducted fan gas turbine en gine comprising a fan 16 and a compressor 11 which are arranged in separate ducts and are driven by a gas turbine providing a propulsion thrust, means, such as arcuate flaps 26. are provided for diverting when desired, the whole of the out out from the fan into the intake 18 of the compressor. Arcuate flaps 29 32 are also provided to control the duct 30 leading from the fan outlet to the compressor intake and the inlet 25 of the compressor respect ively. Burners may be provided ir the outer duct and in the turbine exhaust duct. The engine may incorporate a variable area jet propulsion nozzle.
