Abstract

Solid hydrophobic lubricating compositions contain a liquid lubricating agent and a highly dispersed oxide or hydroxide of silicon, titanium, aluminium or iron which has been treated with an isocyanate, such as toluylene diisocyanate. This treatment may be effected before or after the oxide is added to the lubricating agent. Lubricating agents specified are mineral, animal and vegetable oils and synthetic oils such as silicones.
