713,370. Magnetic compositions. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. April 17, 1953 [April 18, 1952], No. 9868/52, Class 38(2) Magnetic ferrite composition's are made by a process in which one or more compounds of boron are added to ferrite forming materials, the equivalent boron content being less than 1.25 per cent by weight of these materials. Additional ferric oxide may be added with the boron compounds. Examples are described in which 0.28 per cent of boron nitride and 2.72 per cent of additional ferric oxide are added to the mix in. making lithium-zinc, nickel-zinc and manganese-zinc ferrites; in which 0.8 per cent of boric acid and 1.7 per cent of ferric oxide or 0.53 per cent of sodium borate and 1.97 per cent of ferric oxide are added in making lithium-zinc ferrite, in which 0.8 per cent of boric acid and 1.7 per cent ferric oxide are added in making lithium-cadmium ferrite; and in which various percentages up to 30 of boron nitride and ferric oxide mixed are added in making lithium ferrite. The processes include the steps of mixing all ingredients wet, drying, compressing, heating at 1000‹- 1050‹C, crushing, adding water and gum arabic, compressing and firing at 1200‹C. Values of γ, Q and 10-4/Qγ for each product are given and compared. with those obtained with similar materials without the boron addition.
