711,186. Packaging; paper and like bags. SALTER & CO., Ltd., G. Jan. 29, 1953 [March 28, 1952], No. 7954/52. Classes 94 (1) and 94 (2) A method of packaging a metal or other article comprises placing the article in an envelope made of air and moisture-proof material and containing a desiccant, sealing the envelope, allowing the desiccant to remain in communication with the part of the envelope containing the article until substantially all the moisture in the envelope has been absorbed, sealing off communication between the portions of the envelope containing the article and desiccant and then cutting off the portion containing the desiccant. The envelope, Fig. 1, is made from two sheets of polythene or polyvinyl chloride sealed together along the lines a-a<SP>1</SP>, b-b<SP>1</SP>, and c-c<SP>1</SP> to form a compartment 6 communicating with a compartment 5 through an opening 4, a porous bag 7 containing a desiccant being placed in the bottom of the envelope prior to the formation of the seal c-c<SP>1</SP>. The article 8 to be packaged is placed in the envelope. the mouth of the envelope is sealed along the line d-d<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6, and after a suitable time interval the seal c-c<SP>1</SP> is extended to c<SP>11</SP>. The bottom portion of the envelope is then severed below the seal c-c<SP>11</SP>
