710,753. Building motions for textile spinning &c. machines. SCHIESS AKT.- GES. Oct. 5, 1950 [Oct. 29, 1949], No.. 24298/50. Class 120(2) A spindle or other movable rail of a spinning or twisting machine is reciprocated by a lifter member slidable over a non-rotatable and substantially vertical shaft formed with a thread engaged by a rotatable internally-threaded nut upon which the lifter member bears through anti-friction means. The lifter member and nut are independently guided to permit slight relative movement. In one form, a spindle rail 7 is guided by sleeves 8, 9 on a stationary shaft 1 on which a nut 2 is rotated by a gear 4 and shaft 3. A ball bearing 11, 12, 13 is interposed between the nut 2 and the sleeve 8. In another form, two rails 7 symmetrically mounted about a shaft 1 are moved as a unit through a single nut 2.
