Abstract

655,446. Textile spinning spindles. ALLAN, R. K., and SKEFKO BALL BEARING CO., Ltd. Nov. 2,1948, No. 28471. [Class 120(ii)] A textile spinning spindle with a non-rotating bolster 11 with freedom for slight lateral play in the spindle rail 10 and encircled by a spring 16 thrusting against one face of the spindle rail 10 to maintain a shoulder 14 on the bolster 11 against the opposite face has a non-rotating damping weight 24 added to the bolster 11 at its extremity, so as to prevent the development of gyratory movements of the spindle. The weight 24 is preferably in the form of a lock-nut, although the weight may be attached in any suitable way or be integral with the spindle bolster. Its weight may be of the order of two pounds. Suspended flyer spindles may have their weights attached above the flyer rail.
