Abstract

708,524. Pipe joints. VAN LEER'S (CURACAO) N.V. Nov. 1. 1950 [March 31, 1950], No. 26683/50. Class 99 (1). [Also in Groups XVII and XXIV] In a spigot-and-socket joint, shown applied to a closure member for a container but applicable as a pipe joint, a packing ring 14 of polygonal cross-section, located in a V-shaped groove 15 of the spigot, is rolled by the socket 11 during assembly partly over a clamping shoulder 16 on to a seating which may comprise a cylindrical surface 13 and flange 13a, or may be another V-shaped groove. The angle of the V-groove is approximately 90 degrees, and-the shoulder 16 is formed by two cones having a common base.
