Abstract

707,570. Stoppers for tubes. ANGLOIRANIAN OIL CO., Ltd., and BROWN, R. A. May 2, 1952 [May 18, 1951], No. 11676/51. Class 99 (2). [Also in Group XVII] A plug 10 has a frusto-conical wall 16 and means such as a flange 17 to limit the extent of movement of the plug into a tube 11, and, adjacent its end of larger diameter, an annular seating 13 in which is mounted a resilient, e.g., rubber ring 14. When the plug is inserted into the tube the ring is rolled off the seating and takes up a position on the wall of the plug so that the ring is in a state of compression and tends to urge the plug into the tube. The plug may be formed from sheet metal as shown, or may be of diecast metal, the flange 17 being provided with a peripheral groove to facilitate withdrawal of the plug; or of wood and having a bore to facilitate insertion of the plug into the tube; or of plastic or glass.
