707,473. Arc-rupturing in switches. ALLISCHALMERS MANUFACTURING CO. Sept, 26, 1951 [Oct. 7, 1950], No. 22487/51. Class 38(5) The arcing products, such as metallic particles, produced at the terminals of an arc in a chute 15, are kept from the region between the arc runners 22, 24, by extending at 29, 31 the end plates of the chute. The runners each comprise portions 23, 24 or 21, 22 and the parts 29, 31 are arranged parallel therewith, so that the arcing products escape through the space between the runners and the members 29, 31. The arc is drawn along the runners by a series blowout coil 16.
