Abstract

706,865. Spring frames for motor cycles. JURISCH, C. Aug. 29, 1951, No. 20353/51. Class 136(3) In a back wheel spring suspension for motorcycles the spring components are arranged above the rear wheel axle bearing member 1 separately from but adjacent to a straight guide arrangement consisting of a sleeve 4 sliding on two guides 5 on a sleeve 6 which contains a rod 7, one part 12 of a telescopic housing 12, 13 surrounding the spring components being rigidly connected by means of a head part 10 to a housing 3 surrounding the straight guide and the part 13 of the housing being connected with the axle bearing member 1. The member 1 is attached to the sleeve 4 and is slidable in a slot 2 in the housing 3. As shown in Fig. 1, the principal spring 11 rests on an abutment 14 into which is secured a spring rod 15 having a stop 16 at its upper end for a shock absorbing spring 21 contained in a housing 18 connected to the housing 12. An addition spring 20 is provided in the housing 13 and is so short that only after a definite movement of the spring 11 does its upper and strike the bottom 17 of the housing 18. The housing 18 and spring 21 may be replaced by a hydraulic shock absorber, the piston on which is mounted on a spring rod. In a further modification, Fig. 3, a piston 31 moves in an air filled cylinder 30 and is connected by a piston rod 32 with the axle bearing member 1. A'shock absorbing device 33 is mounted in the upper end of the cylinder 30. As shown in Fig. 4 a rubber spring 34 may be used.
