705,828. Pipe joints. MULLER, J. Oct. 27, 1952, No. 26984/52. Class 99 (1). In a joint for pipes, electric conduits, &c. in which packing is compressed around a pipe 14 by a coupling nut 6 having an internal conical surface 7 and screwing on to a socket or sleeve 16 surrounding the pipe, the packing comprises a strip 13 of plastic material of a thickness equal to the width of the annular space between nut and pipe, and of a length equal to the circumference of the pipe. The packing may have a metallic fabric incorporated therein so as to be electrically conducting. Specification 638,687 is referred to.
