Abstract

705,475. Heel lifts. FUSSELL, E. G., and CHAMPION, C. B. July 15,1949 [Nov. 19, 1948], No. 30179/48. Divided out of 705,471. Class 17(3) A heel top piece or sole is moulded of rubber or other material with an arcuate metal reinforcement forming part of the tread portion and anchored in the rubber &c. by a flange which is in at least two different planes and nowhere extends to either surface of the top piece or sole. In the form shown, the metal reinforcement 2 has a flange 12 embedded in the rubber lift 1. The end of the flange is turned at an angle to the main portion and may be provided with teeth or spikes which also may be bent at an angle. Holes are formed in the parts 2 or 12 for purposes of attachment. In a modification, a vertical flange instead of a horizontal flange 12 is provided and this terminates in teeth or spikes which are bent at right angles to the flange.
