686,275. Pipe couplings. KAY, F. Nov. 3, 1950. No. 26860/50. Class 99 (i). A part, such as a thimble 2, projecting from a union limb 6 has an end surface 4 formed with ring-like teeth 5 arranged in convex form in crosssection and onto which the flared end of a pipe is drawn by a nut 13. A ring 10 having a stepped face of frusto-conical form and slightly cut-back inner teeth may be interposed between a flange of the nut and the flared end of the pipe. In a modification, the part 2 is integral with the limb and teeth are formed on the inner face of the flange. Specification 679,584 is referred to.
