Abstract

705,337. Reciprocating pumps. GASKELL & CHAMBERS, Ltd., [trading as NON-DRIP MEASURE CO.]. Dec. 1, 1952 [Jan. 18,1952], No. 1526/52. Class 102 (1). A pump for dispensing measured quantities comprises a cylinder 1 adapted to be inserted into a can and secured by a cap 25 engaging a flange 24 in the head 19 of the pump cylinder. A fitting 9, at the lower end of the cylinder, contains the inlet valve 11 and is connected by a pipe 21 to a passage 20 in the head 19 which leads to a nipple 22 to which is attached a flexible delivery conduit 23. The conduit 23 has a nozzle 27 fitted with a non-return valve 32 which prevents drip. The head 19 has a socket 34 in which the nozzle may be placed when not in use to return waste to the can. The head 19 is provided with grips 4a and the piston rod 3 has a knob 5 for hand actuation and is returned by a spring 6, a buffer spring 36 being provided. Adjustable abutments may be provided to limit the stroke. A rigid or flexible tube 17, fitted with a filter 18, is attached to the fitting 9. Specification 688,500 is referred to.
