Abstract

705,141. Spray-producers. ROCHE, A. June 12, 1952 [May 19, 1952], No. 14825/52. Class 69 (3) A part of the compressed atomizing air supplied to a conduit 26 of a spray gun body I passes, during spraying, through a passage 26a and a conduit 15, to the upper end of a liquid reservoir 2, and liquid is fed therefrom through a passage 22 and conduit 23 to a nozzle 24. A spray outlet nozzle is mounted on an axially adjustable sleeve 27, and includes an outlet 27a and atomizing air jet passages 30, 31. The sleeve has two orifices which, by rotation of the nozzle, can be brought into alignment with the jet passages. To effect spraying a trigger 4 is operated whereupon a needle valve 25 is moved from its seating in the nozzle 24, and a projection 13 on the trigger, which normally forces a rod 14 in the conduit 15 upwards against a spring 17 to close the conduit outlet, is moved downwardly and allows compressed air to enter the reservoir. A spring 8 between a cap 9 and a fixed ring 7 closes the valve 25, and a weaker spring 12 between the ring 7 and a movable ring 11 closes the conduit outlet. When the trigger is operated, air is fed to the reservoir before the needle valve 25 is opened, whilst on return of the trigger the valve is closed before the said air supply is cut off.
