Abstract

704,444. Garment supporting clips. MARTIN, A. Jan. 3, 1951, No. 12234/52. Divided out of 704,382. Class 52(5) [Also in Group XXV] A garment-engaging clip comprises a pair of plates 23, 24 each having strengthening ribs 27, 28 and having an end portion of generally circular shape. Each plate is provided with a pair of apertured lugs 29, 30 so the clip may be threaded on a garment-supporting rod. A compression spring 33 mounted between the circular feet of the plates causes the opposite ends of the plates to grip an article. The apertures in the lugs are of slightly greater diameter than the garment-supporting rod so that the peripheries of the apertures are pressed against the rod under the influence of the spring so that the clip is self-locking in a selected position on the garmentsupporting rod, but releasable for sliding along the rod without causing a garment held thereby to be released. Specifications 704,382, 704,443 and 704.450 are referred to.
