Abstract
703,977. Drum mills. DRAISWERKE GES. July 28, 1952 [Aug. 11, 1951], No. 19075/52. Class 59 In a drum mill having the axis of rotation of the drum 1 disposed at an acute angle to the generatrix of the shell of the drum, an end wall 11 of the drum has a discharge opening, adapted also for serving as a charging opening, which is located at a point remote from the axis of rotation of the drum. The opening is closed by a plate 10 bolted to the end wall and on which is mounted a pipe connection 13 provided with a closable cock 12. For a relatively liquid material to be treated, the cock need only be opened ; for a solid material, the plate 10 may be removed. The drum is mounted by means of stub shafts 2, 3 supported on bearings .4, 5 of pillars 6, 7, and the drum is driven by means of a belt pulley on one of the stub shafts. The drum may, alternatively, be supported in ball joints at the end walls, or in rotating eccentric discs, or by the drum shell having U-shaped rails moving on eccentrically-mounted rollers.
