Abstract

703,906. Cable sleeves; insulating cable joints and terminals. TELEGRAPH CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE CO., Ltd. April 30, 1951 [May 18, 1950], No. 12514/50. Classes 36 and 38 (1) A cable termination is formed of plastic dielectric material which is united with the main insulation of the cable and provides a leakage path of considerable length. A cable C is provided with a terminal box B, within which the cable conductors 1, 2, 3 are separated. Each conductor is enclosed in a body 10 of thermoplastic material such as polythene which is tapered off at both ends 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. The end 11 is preferably enclosed in a stress cone 12 of copper wire. Where the conductors are insulated with thermoplastic material the terminations are united therewith. Paper-insulated conductors may be provided with a tail end of plastic insulated cable with which the termination is united. Specification 676,543, [Group V], is referred to.
