Class 100 (2) An arcuate printing plate 12 is secured to the cylinder of a rotary printing machine by fingers 21 on levers 20A, 20B mounted on rock shafts 19 and engageable in under-cut pockets 14 in each circumferential end of the printing plate, the fingers being moved to their engaging positions by links 26 connected to a common nut member 29 movable by a draw-bolt 30. In order to ensure an accurate location of the plate with respect to the cylinder, the lever 20B is arranged to abut an adjustable stop 32 in the engaging position as shown by the left-hand side of Fig. 1. Springs 49, 50 are provided to urge levers 20A, 20B toward their plate retaining positions, the spring 50 being the stronger so that the lever 20B reaches its final plate locating position in abutment with the stop first. The drawbolt 30 has a ball head 39 retained in a socket formed of parts 40, 41 allowing some angular freedom. A collar 48, loosely mounted on the bolt, is located in an opening 46 in the cylinder,to limit the angular displacement of the drawbolt about the ball 39. In another form, Fig. 3, the plate 12 is located by the abutment of its end with the edge of a T-section strip 56 adjustably secured to the cylinder. A small gap 62 is left at the other end of the plate and the plate is biased by a stronger spring 50 to urge its locating end against the strip 56. Specification 622,473 is referred to.
