700,811. Oil seals. EICKHOFF MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI GEB. Oct. 25, 1950 [Nov. 4, 1949], No. 25981/50. Class 122 (5) An oil seal 4 for a ball or roller bearing 3 comprises an outer cylindrical portion seated in the bearing-house 2 and an intermediate frustroconical web connected directly to the cylindrical portion and inclined towards the bearing 3 and carrying resilient flanges 7, 8 inclined away from the bearing and resiliently contacting the bearing shaft 9 to form therewith a closed annular space 10 in which, it is stated, bearing lubricant collects. The seal 4, which may be of wholly resilient material, is held against the bearing by means of a spring ring 6.
