700,009. Spray-producers. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C. (Aktiebolaget Svenska Flaktfabriken). March 3, 1950, No. 5432/50. Class 69 (3) A method of producing dry powdered materials, e.g. glucose, from liquid solutions or suspensions thereof, comprises the non-oxidizing atomizing of a stream of the liquid by superheated steam which contacts the stream at high velocity to prevent emulsification. The steam is supplied to an expansion nozzle 4 by a pipe 1, an adjustable tongue 6 serving to deflect the steam towards an opening in a pipe 5 containing the liquid. The pipe 5 is streamlined in cross-section and contains a helical member 8 to impart a rotary motion to the liquid. The angle between the axes of the pipes 1, 5, can be adjusted to suit liquids of different viscosities, and the distance A is likewise variable.
