Class 66 [Also in Group V] A sealing device for a flexible tube containing a paste or liquid comprises a closed body member rigidly secured to the tube and having a portion made of a frangible material intended to be cut or pierced to allow the contents of the tube to be expressed therethrough, and a removable sealing member adapted to seal the aperture made in the frangible portion, flexibly connected to said body member. As shown in Figs. 2, 3 the sealing device consists of a .rigid plastic material body 1 formed with a central protrusion 4 having on opposite sides abutment stops 5, 6 adapted to be firmly secured on the neck 2 of a tube formed with a central outlet duct 3 and a closure means consisting of a plug 7 mounted on a stirrup 8 rotatably journaled in bearings 9 on an axis offset relative to the axis of the tube and sealing device so that on rocking the stirrup 8 in the direction of the arrow 10 the sealing member 7 can be forced over the stop 6 to seal the aperture formed by cutting off the protrusion 4. In a modification shown in Fig. 4 the sealing device consists of a resilient plastic nipple 11 secured by its lower edge 12 on the neck 13 of the tube by metal crimping 14 which when cut off is sealed by a peg 15 with an enlargement 16 co-operating with a restriction 17 in the nipple, the latter and the peg being connected by a plastic strip 18. In another modification shown in Fig. 5 the sealing device consists of resilient plastic material surrounding the neck 13 of the tube terminating in a point 19 the aperture formed when this is cut off being closed by a cover 20 connected to the latter by a flexible part 21 folded over at 22 which co-operates in the sealing position with a lug 26 on the sealing device. a tongue 23 having a hole 24 and terminating in a part 25 convenient for handling the cover forming an extension of the cover. In another modification shown in Fig. 7 the sealing device includes a body member 27 continued beyond the tube neck 13 by-a resilient part 28 adapted to have the cover 29 secured to it, the cover being connected through a strip 30 to the body member 27. The part 28 supports a thin domed wall 31 which is to be cut off before the tube can be used. After the tube has been used for the first time, the cover 29 is fitted over the part 28 and is then frictionally retained thereon for which purpose enlargements 32 may be provided on the part 28 and enlargements in the cover 33, Fig. 8 (not shown). The sealing device may be injection-moulded directly on the tube instead of being secured to the neck of the tube as described (see Group V).
