Abstract

697.398. Sanitary closets. MOFUSSIL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, Ltd. Apri1 24, 1951 [Sept. 21,1950], No. 23150/50. Class 26 A chemical closet of the kind with the pan mounted above, and discharging into. a sewage receiving settling tank containing disinfectant liquid, has a suction pump to draw filtered liquid from the settling tank and to discharge into a flushing cistern. manually controlled means for driving the pump and a manually-operable self-closing discharge valve controlling the discharge outlet from the tank. The pan 10 communicates with the settling tank 16 (see Fig. 3), through a connection 14. Any conventional cistern 12 is mounted on a pedestal 11 which encloses the pump. The pump is controlled by a manually actuated electric time switch 15. The tank 16 has baffle plates 28 29 to break up sewage, and the bottom baffle plate 29 has an opening 30 communicating with a filter chamber 23 in which the suction pipe 27 for the pump depends. The tank is emptied through the outlet 18 into which the cistern overflow 26 enters. The tank discharge is controlled bv a self closing valve 20 actuated by a wire or cable 21. An alternative setting tank (see Fig. 5), has a syphonic discharge, the syphon being shown by the arrows and references 43, 45. Valve 37 is provided to break the syphon. An air escape valve is also fitted at the top of the syphon to permit the syphon to fill. The discharge valve is manually operable as in the previous construction. Additionally a float may be .provided to hold the valve open until the discharge is completed.
