Abstract

695,906. Rectilinear motion bearings. WARD, E. April 27, 1951, No. 9950/51. Class 12 (i). Running gear for a sliding door or the like adapted to run in a guide rail having a continuous slot in its lower side comprises a hanger 1 with a vertical flange 8 having ball-bearings 6 mounted in slots 7 on axles 5 which also carry pairs of grooved rollers 10 with balls 12 and 13 arranged between them, one of the axles 5 being laterally displaceable to allow vertical adjustment of the door. The adjustment is effected by a pin 15 co-operating with a screw 17 and bearing on one of the ball-bearings 6, the slot 7 in this case being enlarged to allow lateral movement of the ballbearing within the slot. The rollers 10 are retained in their position on the axles 5 by resilient bands 11 and the ball-bearings 6 are held in the slots 7 by a hood 9. In a modification three axles 5 having rollers 10 and ballbearings 6 are provided, the two outer ballbearings being laterally displaceable.
