Class 59 A tractor provided at the rear with upper and lower hitch links 1, 6 pivoted at. their front ends for up-and-down movement, by means of a power unit on the tractor, and a driving pulley 26 driven from the tractor power takeoff shaft is combined with a hammer mill which is pivotally connected to the rear ends of the hitch links for up-and-down movement therewith and includes a pulley 28 which is adapted to be driven from the pulley 26 by means of an endless driving belt 27, and check means 33, 34 for arresting the lowering movement of the links and mill to support the latter clear of the ground, the axis of the pulley 28 moving eccentrically with respect to the axis of the pulley 26 during up-and-down movement of the links so as to cause non-driving belt slackness when the mill is raised and adequate driving tension when the mill is lowered to the limit of the check means. The mill casing 8 has lateral flanges 38, Fig. 2, which are slidably supported on angle members 15, the latter being attached at their front ends to an upright frame formed by vertical angle members 17 and 22, Fig. 3, and horizontal angle members 18 and 19. On one side of the frame is attached an angled member 24 which together with the member 22 carries pins 23 whereby the frame can be attached to apertured balls 3 in the rear ends of the links 1. The attachment of the frame to the hitch links is completed by a pin 21 which is passed through an apertured ball in the rear end of the upper link 6 and through the apertured limbs of a U-member attached on the top angle member 19. The members 15 are also attached to the frame by a tie-member 16. The check means comprises a double strap 33 connected at its upper end to the link 6, which is adjustable, and pivotally attached at its lower end to a single strap 34, the latter being pivotally attached to lugs 35 on a transverse angle member 39 in the vertical frame. To adjust the belt tension, the mill. casing is adjustable by means of a screw 36. The casing flanges 38 are guided with respect to the angled members 15 by means of co-operating bolts and slots. A conduit 8A leads from the mill casing to a blower 9 discharging up a conduit 10 into a centrifugal separator 11 which has bifurcated discharge shoots 12. A feed hopper 14 for grain or the like and a feed shoot 13 for sheaves or the like are provided.
