Abstract

694,296. Thermal switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 24, 1952 [April 25, 1951], No. 10331/52. Class 38(v) [Also in Group VIII] A thermal switch for an electric iron (see Group VIII) comprises contacts 65, 66 carried by switch arms 63, 67 respectively, the arm 67 being movable by means of a bimetallic bar 69, and the switch is adjustable by means of a lever 56 which is pivoted at 58 and engaged at one end by a cam 55 mounted on a rod 41 which can be rotated by means of a lever 39. An adjusting screw 61 is threaded into the other end of the lever 56 and carries an insulating stop 62 adapted to bear on switch arm 63. The bimetallic bar 69 is preferably formed of two reversed sections to minimize temperature overshoot and carries a switch actuator 74 of refractory insulating material.
