Abstract

692,944. Spindle apparatus. COURTAULDS, Ltd. Sept. 27, 1951 '[Sept. 28, 1950], No. 23744/50. Class 120(ii). [Also in Group XXIV] A textile twisting and spinning spindle comprises a rotatable shaft 2, a tube 1 concentrically fixed around and to the said shaft, a lower seating 5 on the shaft 2 to provide a close fit with the bore of the bobbin to be mounted on the spindle, and, at the upper end of the shaft, a centrifugally operated clutch comprising a flexible ring 13 of substantially U-shaped cross-section concentric with the shaft and so arranged that when the shaft is stationary the bobbin can be passed over the clutch on to the seating but that when the shaft is rotating the outer limb 17 of the ring is urged by centrifugal force into driving contact with the bore of the bobbin so that the bobbin is auto. matically gripped Specifications 151,806, 222,438 [both in Class 120(ii)]; and 692,943 are referred to.
