Abstract

691,223. Thermal switches. PIERCE FOUNDATION, J. B. March 5, 1951 [March 16, 1950], No. 5236/51. Class 38(v) In a thermal switch differential expansion of a rod 19 and sleeve 17 actuates through multiplying levers 24, 25 a snap-over disc 35 which in turn actuates switch contacts. To effect this the disc 35, in moving to its other configuration may operate a push rod 37 carrying a contact-carrying member 39 thereby moving contacts out of engagement with fixed contacts. The above action takes place against the action of two return springs 52 which are however too weak to return the snap spring to its original configuration. This latter is effected by means of a key which is inserted through a hole 54 and is pressed against the push rod 37. Alternatively the thermal elements may reset the snap spring.
