691,106. Tubular heat-exchange elements. SCHOELLER - BLECKMANN STAHLWERKE AKT.-GES. Nov. 15, 1949 [Nov. 15, 1948], No. 29226/49. Class 64 (iii) The elements, through which air flows in a recuperator for heating air for furnaces, each comprise one or more welded pipes 4, e.g. connected one behind another, longitudinal fins 5 inside and transverse fins 6 outside (made from sheet steel which resists oxidation at elevated temperatures) being welded to each pipe. Pressed halves 2 are welded together to make the pipes, a reinforcing strut 7 being welded at the middle of each. Flanges 1 welded at the ends of the pipes have packing grooves 9 and holes 8 which permit sealing and screwing together of adjacent flanges.
