Abstract
825,947. Tubular heat exchangers. SCHACK, A., [trading as REKUPERATOR KOMMANDIT - GESELLSCHAFT Dr ING. SCHACK & CO.]. May 22,1956 [May 25, 1955], No. 15849/56. Class 64(3) Ceramic inserts 2 are retained in position within the mild steel tubes 1 of a heat recuperator by projections 3 welded or otherwise secured to the tubes and engaging in grooves provided in the inserts. In the form shown the inserts are provided with longitudinal grooves 7, the lowermost of a plurality of inserts provided within each tube having also a transverse annular groove 7a which engages with the projections 3, and the end of this insert extending to the end of tube as shown in Fig. 3 to prevent overheating of the tube by the entering hot gases. The tube plate 4 is likewise protected by a ceramic mass 5.
