Abstract

690,767. Two - part couplings. CARR FASTENER CO., Ltd. Dec. 14, 1951 [Jan. 8, 1961], No. 563/51. Class 38 (i). A plug or socket device comprises a cover 1 and a contact-carrying plate 2 of insulating material having in it three notches 3. The cover has a cylindrical wall 6 and a base 7, part of the wall 6 being cut to form a cam surface 9, other parts of the wall having integral with it three equally-spaced inward projections 10, and a further set of inward projections 11 lying axially below, and being staggered with respect to, projections 10. To assemble the device the plate is passed over the projections 10 to rest on the projections 11, the lug 4 lying on the cam surface 9. The plate is then rotated, the lug 4 riding ori the cam surface, which secures the plate by bringing it into frictional engagement with the projections 10. The notches 3 being out of alignment with the projections. Axial withdrawal of the plate is now impossible. In a modification, the outer edge 13 of a stiff insulating liner 12 takes the place of the projections 11.
