Abstract

689,898. Spray-producers ; crop sprayers. CHAPLIN, P. H. July 18, 1950 [July 19, 1949], No. 18998/49. Class 69 (iii). Carriages 3, each supporting an outwardly directed pair of nozzles 24 fed with liquid through a hose 33, are pulled along tracks 2 by ropes 4 passing under pulleys 6 and connected to drums 8. The latter are carried on a shaft 9 and are rotated manually by a lever 11 and ratchet and pawl mechanism. Each pair of nozzles is carried by a T-piece 26 supported on vertical members 27, which are provided with a series of fixing holes 31 allowing adjustment of the nozzle height. The carriages are guided centrally between concrete rails 23 by rollers 21 at the ends of spring biased levers 20. Alternatively, power-operated mechanism with automatic reversing means may drive the carriages to and fro. The nozzles may be of the circular rose type, or as in Figs. 6 and 7.
